What is the history of the Puma brand?

The story of Puma begins in Germany, more precisely in Bavaria, where the dassler siblings grew up. The eldest, Rudolph, began by creating a sports shoe using scraps of musette bags and remnants of military helmets for the soles, and pieces of parachute for the outer coverings. The two brothers, with their very different temperaments, found themselves working together on this project, and opened their first athletic shoe factory in their mother's old laundry. Manufacturing conditions were rudimentary, but the dassler brothers clung to their dreams, using a bicycle connected to a dynamo to generate the necessary electricity. Rudolph's visionary and commercial skills helped them become the official supplier to the German Olympic team at the 1928 Games in Amsterdam. On the strength of this success and visibility, Puma keeps its headquarters in Bavaria, and the footwear and sportswear brand employs 9,500 people worldwide. It sponsors over 30 national soccer teams in five different FIFA confederations. One of the key features of Puma 's phenomenal success is its incredibly effective logo.

The Puma brand was founded in Germany in the 1920s by two brothers from the Dassler family, who later split up and each created their own brand. Adolf Russler headedAdidas, while Rudolf Dassler created Ruda, which took the name Puma when it became an international brand. The rival brothers competed in the footwear market from 1924 to create quality footwear that performed well and lasted over time.

Puma was to be one of the first sports equipment manufacturers to innovate, notably by creating the first screw-in cleats, which would propel the brand to the forefront of the basketball market. Screw-in cleats are practical and solid, while enabling players to improve their technique.

Puma the brand conquered the world, notably through its association with the greatest sportsmen and women in the world of soccer, including popular players and Formula 1 drivers such as Michael Schumacher.

In the 2000s, the Puma brand developed trendy streetwear products, an urban and hip-hopclothing line, and a commitment to ecology by eliminating toxic products from its manufacturing chain.

Puma over the years, the brand has become a fashion essential, thanks to its innovative, high-performance technical garments. The brand has also made a name for itself thanks to its famous logo, uncluttered, minimalist and instinctively understandable to the greatest number of people: a puma that lunges and leaps. The puma is a well-known animal in the United States, a kind of mountain lion that can jump and hunt at great speed.

The look, coat and strength of the puma instill in brand fans the sporting, warrior and winning spirit conveyed by the brand logo. Both agile and graceful, the puma is a feline that conveys an image of power and strength. The logo first appeared in the 50s, and the sports shoe brand has never changed it since.
