How to wear a faux fur coat?

Whatever your style, you can find your dream coat in our catalog of women's fur coats. The Brentigny Paris team takes the animal cause to heart, which is why you'll find only top-quality faux furs. Faux fur coats offer a luxurious, low-cost look with maximum comfort.

If you want to keep your fur coat for as long as possible, choose a neutral color and a classic shape. It's important that your fur coat looks good with any outfit. What's more, dark colors allow you to wear more atypical outfits, prints or flashy colors. Withthe exception of powder pink, which goes with almost everything, for your first faux fur coat, choose black or gray, and thengofor the second!

  • The different fur models

Gone are the days of heavy women's fur coats: today's cuts are tailored, and models are plain or colored. Fur coats range in length from short to mid-length and long. Long cuts should be avoided if you're short, as they tend to suffocate the figure and make you look fatter. For women of average height, it's best to choose a mid-length coat, which will show off your legs and keep you comfortable on the move all day long.

  • Fur coats with short hair

Women's short-haired coats are very pleasant to the touch, last over time and give a more youthful look. Long coats enhance the silhouette, so if you want to create more volume in your morphology, this is more suitable.

What to wear a fur coat with?

  • Fitted pants

As women's fur coats are generally quite imposing, to avoid overloading your silhouette, it's best to wear a tight-fitting cut for the legs. For example, you can wear a fur coat with chino pants, skinny jeans or cigarette pants. Wide-legged pants will unbalance the silhouette and round you out even more, so it's best not to combine them with a faux fur coat.

For an effortless look, wear your fur coat with boyfriend jeans, a pair of sneakers and a pretty handbag. You can also wear a faux fur coat with a black suit, or a well-tailored gray suit if you want an updated retro look that's both sophisticated and sexy. You'll want to avoid all faux-leather bottoms, whether in dresses, pants or skirts, so as not to tarnish the look with a cheap effect.

  • A sheath or skater dress

For a special evening look, like Christmas or New Year's Eve, you can wear a fur coat with a jumpsuit underneath, with pumps or derbies. If you want to wear a dress with sequins, that's perfectly possible, but you'll need to choose a faux fur coat, preferably black.

As women's fur coats are already strong pieces to wear, it's best not to overload your look with accessories and to sport light make-up.

Dresses that go best with fur are short and rather slim-fitting; a sweater dress, for example, can work very well for an effective, glamorous outfit.

For a totally glamorous look, opt for a slit dress, with a pair of classic stiletto heels. Choose fine silver or gold jewelry for the wrists and hands rather than the upper body.

Long, gipsy or bohemian-style dresses are not recommended, while faux fur coats can be worn with more contemporary pieces.

  • Little touches of faux fur

If you're looking for a women's coat that's more discreet than the most popular models, there are plenty of coats with faux fur trims on the collar, sleeves and hood. Comfy and easier to wear, you can go for it without the risk of ending up with a coat you've left in the closet!

Dressing up with a faux fur jacket isn't always easy, especially if you're not used to daring, but this imposing piece shouldn't scare you. There's always a model to suit you, like a teddy or a bomber.
